People criticizing TFIOS because Gus sounds pretentious???

that was the point???

like literally at his fake funeral his best friend talks about how fucking pretentious he is and how annoying it was???

It was one of his character flaws? He was deliberately written that way?

You’re not being clever or critical by pointing it out, you are literally stating a fact about the novel that the author deliberately wrote

In real life, I’m so brutally honest that it almost works against me sometimes. People think you’re being dishonest because you’re just too blunt. I have absolutely no filter, which is the opposite of Lydia. It’s been fun to be that coy, non-chalant mystery girl.

A few things I loved about this scene:

Sherlock goes to Molly for help, even though she points out he really doesn’t need it. He insists however. Basically Sherlock wanted to see her.

Molly knows Sherlock is a graduate chemist, once again proving that they talk about personal things quite a bit.

When Sherlock thinks that’s he has offended Molly he is very quick to make sure he sets things right again.

Sherlock even begins to look awkward, and basically stutters while Molly looks beautiful, and confident.

And he genuinely means it too. He doesn’t really drink, whereas he knows Molly does. That’s all. (he probably knows what, too) Molly knows, but she chooses to tease him. Like a good Ni dom. ;)

And a good friend who knows him very well.

I know that the characters are fictional.

But the emotional damage they cause is real.
